I've been thinking a lot about cabinets recently, so this popped into mind:
At the beginning of 2013 the MET had a fantastic show on the furniture of Abraham and David Roentgen. It was a truly inspiring and incredible display of work: desks and cabinets with incredible marquetry, moving elements, drawers within drawers, hidden compartments. Even the hardware was made from scratch. Really makes you think, if they were doing this type of stuff roughly 200 years ago, I might as well close up shop!
